The honest summary: Meriqen helps you find, understand, and track merit scholarships. It does not award scholarships, does not guarantee eligibility or selection, and never submits an application for you. The applications are yours — the facts in them, the writing in them, and the decision to submit them.

1. Eligibility and age requirements

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Under 16, no account is created.
• If you are 16 or 17, a parent or guardian must approve your account by email before it activates. Your guardian then has a read-only view of your matches and application statuses, and may withdraw approval at any time, which pauses the account.
• You must provide accurate information, including your real date of birth.

2. What Meriqen does

Meriqen matches your profile against published scholarship rules, explains why each award fits or does not, tracks your applications and deadlines, sends reminders, and monitors official sponsor pages for changes. Where a sponsor permits it, Meriqen may also help you organize and improve your own application work.

Meriqen is not a scholarship provider, lender, financial-aid office, college counselor, or agent. It is not affiliated with any university or scholarship sponsor. Sponsor and university names appear only to identify their programs and belong to their owners.

Meri, the guide inside Meriqen, is an educational guide and only that — not a licensed counselor, not an attorney, not a financial advisor. Her guidance is informational; the decisions stay yours. Parts of it are AI-generated, and it is grounded: every scholarship fact she uses links to the sponsor’s own page and shows the date we last checked it, and where we have not verified something, she is built to say she does not know rather than guess.

3. What Meriqen never does

• It never submits, signs, or certifies an application on your behalf.
• It never accepts a sponsor’s terms for you or logs into application portals.
• It never claims to know your odds of winning. Labels like “Best Fit” describe how well published rules match your profile — they are not probabilities.
• It never asks for Social Security numbers, bank details, household income, FAFSA credentials, or application fees. Legitimate scholarships do not charge fees either.

4. Your responsibilities

• Verify before you rely. Deadlines, rules, and amounts come from sponsor pages that can change without notice. We show every source and its last-verified date — confirm the details on the sponsor’s official page before you build plans around them.
• Be honest in applications. Never misrepresent your grades, activities, role, or impact. One inflated claim can disqualify you everywhere.
• Follow each sponsor’s own rules about outside help and AI assistance. Where a sponsor prohibits or discourages AI help, Meriqen restricts what it will do for that application — and you are responsible for following those rules in the work you submit.
• The essays are yours, and you certify as much when you submit. Meri can brief you on what a sponsor rewards, ask the questions that surface your own stories, and give feedback on your draft — she does not write your application. Where a sponsor’s published rules permit disclosed help and you have done the writing work in Your Voice that unlocks it, she may suggest wording grounded only in facts you confirmed, and any substantive suggestion must be disclosed on the application. Learn from published winning essays without borrowing from them: sponsors check entries against their own posted winners, and a copied line is grounds for disqualification.
• Review everything. Any content Meriqen generates or suggests may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all information before using it.
• Keep your sign-in credentials safe, and use one account that is yours alone.

5. Scholarship listings and third parties

• Scholarship programs are created and run by their sponsors, not by us. Sponsors decide eligibility, deadlines, and winners entirely at their own judgment; we accept no responsibility for their decisions.
• Links to sponsor sites are labeled and leave Meriqen; their sites have their own terms and privacy practices.
• We work to keep the catalog accurate and verified, and we flag suspected scams — but we cannot guarantee any third party’s information. If a listing looks wrong, use the report link and we will review it.
• Sponsors can change deadlines and rules on their side at any time. We re-check sponsor pages on the schedule shown in the product, and the date beside each fact is the date we last checked it — never a projection.

5a. North Star: figures read from schools and public datasets

North Star shows prices, credit policies, program pages and career figures that we read from each school’s own public pages and from public government datasets (the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, O*NET). Every figure carries its source and the date we last read it, and a page can change after that date; dataset figures carry the year the dataset reports. Nothing on North Star is advice, a quote, an offer of aid, or a statement by the school, and nothing on it is a guarantee of cost, credit, admission, licensure or earnings: before you act on a figure, open its source and confirm it is still what the school says. Scorecard figures are the U.S. Department of Education’s and Occupational Outlook Handbook figures the U.S. Department of Labor’s, with their years shown. Requirements for licensed careers vary by state and change; confirm them with the school and the licensing body. A figure older than the recheck period shown in the product says so beside its date.

6. What we will not advise on

Immigration and residency status. The profile asks for one broad eligibility category, chosen from a list — never a document, and never the story behind it. Beyond that category, Meriqen does not advise on immigration or residency: not in the catalogue, not from Meri. Those questions deserve a licensed attorney or an accredited representative, and pretending otherwise would be exactly the kind of confident wrong answer this product exists to avoid.

7. Free beta

• Meriqen is currently free for students. No payment details are collected.
• Features may change, break, or be removed during the beta; we make no uptime guarantee.
• Data retention and deletion follow our Privacy Policy.

8. Your content

Your profile facts, notes, and application materials are yours. You give us only the limited permission needed to store and display them back to you and, where applicable, the read-only guardian view. We claim no ownership of your applications or essays.

If you connect the optional Google Drive mirror, Meriqen writes copies of your work into a folder in your own Google Drive. Those files belong to you: we can only see files Meriqen itself creates, we never read your writing back out of your Drive, and disconnecting the mirror or deleting your account leaves the copies in your Drive, untouched. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use Meriqen to misrepresent yourself, to access another person’s data, to scrape or resell the catalog, or to interfere with the service. We may suspend accounts that do.

10. Disclaimers and limits of liability

The service is provided “as is” during the beta. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Property Sapiens LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, for sponsor decisions, or for missed opportunities. During the free beta, our total liability for any claim will not exceed $50 or the amount you have paid us (currently $0), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Ending the relationship

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. We may suspend or close accounts for violations of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (liability limits, your responsibilities for past submissions) survive.

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms at any time, and the current version applies to every user of Meriqen. Material changes will be announced in the app with a new version and effective date before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA.
